Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a naturally occurring substance that keeps skin, supple and moisturized. soft. JUVÉDERM® has a variety of nonsurgical dermal fillers that contain a modified form of HA that provide long-lasting, natural-looking results.
Of the millions of patients choosing a non-surgical filler option, over 90% receive an HA dermal filler.
During treatment, an APRN nurse practitioner will inject the filler using a needle or cannula. Different formulations are approved for different areas of the face. For instance, different fillers can be selected to volumize cheeks, smooth smile lines, smooth lines around the mouth, plump the lips, define the chin, or improve the jawline.
How It Works
Hyaluronic acid (HA) adds moisture and volume to the skin and is produced naturally by the body but decreases with age. JUVÉDERM fillers use a modified form of (HA) to restore lost volume,giving your face a smoother, fuller, more youthful appearance.
What will it feel like?
JUVÉDERM contains lidocaine to numb the area and reduce any discomfort during the injection, additional topical numbing cream may be applied.

During your consultation we’re here to get to know you better and understand your goals. This is our time together to help you understand the procedure and what you can expect from your sessions. Your Nurse Practitioner will review your health history, evaluate the areas you wish treated, and discuss your treatment options and pricing plans.
Step 2: Your Pre-Treatment Guidelines
Getting Ready for Your Session
Juvederm dermal fillers are injected to add volume under the skin and to lift and smooth wrinkles and folds. There is lidocaine within the dermal fillers to ease any discomfort and a topical numbing cream may be used.
Pre-Treatment Instructions
Vaccines, immunizations, procedures, illnesses, or dental work should be scheduled 2-weeks before or after treatment with Dermal Fillers
• Do not use dermal fillers if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, are allergic to any of the ingredients, suffer from any neurological or autoimmune disorders, are experiencing any cold or flu-like symptoms, or have any active inflammatory processes (cysts, pimples, rashes, hives).
• Avoid use of anticoagulant medications or blood thinning medications or supplements such as Aspirin, NSAIDS, Ginko Biloba, Garlic Supplements, Flax Oil, Cod Liver Oil, Vitamins A and E, and essential fatty acids for 7 days after treatment to reduce risk of bruising.
Avoid alcohol 24 hours before your treatment to avoid bruising
• Inform your provider if you have a history of cold sores. If you develop a cold sore, blemish, or rash, etc. in the area to be treated prior to your appointment, please reschedule your appointment until it resolves.
• Do not apply products that are potentially irritating for 2 -3 days before and after treatment such as retin-a or glycolic acids.
Step 3: Your First Visit
Your First Session!
• Arrive with a clean face or remove your makeup before your visit.
• Your nurse practitioner will cleanse your face to prepare it for treatment..
• You may experience a some tenderness or slight irritation during and following injection
• You may experience slight redness and swelling are normal and some small bruising may be visible
Step 3: After Care
What Happen's Next
• It is common for some redness, bruising, swelling, tenderness, or lightly swollen pinkish bumps around the areas that were injected. These will dissipate in a few hours to about 3 to 5 days. There is occasionally some mild pain or itching at the site of injection.
• Apply a cool compress or ice pack for 15 minutes each hour while awake to reduce swelling.
• Use Tylenol (acetaminophen) if you experience discomfort.
• Avoid sleeping on your side or stomach for 24 hours post-treatment to prevent dispersing the product. We recommend you
sleep elevated on your back and use pillows to stabilize yourself.
• Avoid touching or massaging of the treated area for at least 6 hours
• Avoid showering your face until the next day
• Avoid cleanser, moisturizer, lipstick or makeup until the day after treatment: to prevent irritation.
• Avoid strenuous exercise or anything that increases your heart rate for 24 hours.
• Avoid exercise, swimming, sun, hot tubs, saunas or heat exposure for 72 hours after treatment
• Avoid retin-a, glycolic acid, benzoyl peroxide, hydroquinone for 3 days after treatment to avoid irritation
• Wait at least 2 weeks before dental work, immunizations, or other cosmetic treatments
